Jonathan Bechman, a former investigator for the Racine County Sheriff’s Office, pleaded guilty on August 21 to charges in a domestic abuse case and has been sentenced to six months in jail. The plea resulted in convictions for two counts of battery with
domestic abuse modifiers and one count of attempted misconduct in office, all misdemeanors. Racine County Judge David Paulson also sentenced Bechman to three years of probation and work release. Bechman's last day with the Sheriff's Office was May 1, following his administrative leave in January after his wife filed for a domestic abuse restraining order. The court approved the restraining order in February, and charges were filed in May.
