John E. Iannantuoni, a notable figure in the field of technology and a beloved community member, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025, at the age of 84. Iannantuoni was a pioneering student in technology and played a significant role at the University of Chicago Computation Center, where he helped launch their first computer system in the 1960s. His career spanned 37 years, during which he was known for his intellect, fairness, and negotiation skills. Beyond his professional achievements, Iannantuoni was a culinary enthusiast, affectionately known as 'Chef I' among his friends. He was deeply rooted in his community, having raised four children in the Beverly neighborhood of Chicago, where he developed close friendships. Iannantuoni is survived by his wife Lynette, his children, and grandchildren. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for October 11, 2025, at Barraco’s in Evergreen Park.
