What's Happening?
The European Commission has approved two Dutch state aid schemes totaling 290 million euros to support the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). These schemes are part of the EU's efforts to decarbonize the aviation industry and align with the ReFuelEU
aviation regulation. The aid will support projects producing approximately 285,000 metric tons of SAF annually, equivalent to 350 million liters of kerosene. The schemes will provide investment aid for SAF production and cover preparatory works for SAF projects. The aid will be distributed on a first-come-first-served basis and aims to foster technological diversity by supporting advanced biobased SAF and synthetic aviation fuels.
