Amazon has revealed new details about its initiative to deploy nuclear energy in Washington State, where the company is headquartered. The project involves the development of up to 12 advanced nuclear reactors
in collaboration with Energy Northwest, a consortium of public utilities. These reactors are designed to be small and modular, making them more cost-effective and easier to deploy compared to traditional nuclear power plants. The Cascade Advanced Energy Facility, located near Richland, Washington, will consist of three sections with a combined capacity of 960 megawatts, sufficient to power approximately 770,000 homes. Amazon plans to purchase electricity from the first 320-megawatt phase, with additional capacity available for local utilities.
