Orlando Rivas, a security guard at Buffalo Grove High School, was honored posthumously for his heroic actions that led to his death. On April 24, Rivas died after a car accident near the school. He pushed students out of harm's way as a utility pole fell,

His father, Roy Rivas, who worked as a chef for the Chicago White Sox, expressed pride in his son's selfless act.
