Gail Marven Melick, a former journalist and educator, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025, at the age of 97. Born on January 11, 1928, in northeast Iowa, Melick served in the United States Navy as a journalist and later pursued higher education,
earning a degree in Philosophy from Carleton College and an MBA from the University of Chicago. He furthered his studies at Northwestern University. Melick is survived by his wife Judy, two sons, two daughters, and seven grandchildren. A celebration of his life is planned for a future date.
