The Arizona Fall League has announced its Week Two NFP Hitter and Pitcher of the Week awards for games played from October 14 to 19. Esmerlyn Valdez of the Salt River Rafters, a Pittsburgh Pirates prospect,
was named Hitter of the Week after an impressive performance. Valdez achieved a slash line of .615/.727/1.846, leading the league in total bases, home runs, slugging percentage, and OPS. He also tied for the league lead in hits and ranked second in batting average, on-base percentage, RBI, and walks. Anderson Brito of the Scottsdale Scorpions, a Houston Astros prospect, was named Pitcher of the Week. Brito completed three no-hit innings in his second AFL start, striking out seven consecutive batters and achieving eight total strikeouts, the most in an AFL appearance this season.
