What's Happening?
Warren Community College has introduced a new associate degree program in Applied Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, integrating robotics, mechatronics, automation, manufacturing, and AI into a 60-credit
curriculum. The program aims to prepare students for careers in automation and manufacturing, addressing a gap in regional education and meeting employer needs. Courses include Introduction to Industrial Control Systems and Applied AI and Machine Learning, with hands-on, project-based learning in advanced labs. The program is designed for various student populations, offering evening classes and requiring no prior technical knowledge.
Why It's Important?
The launch of this program reflects the growing demand for skilled professionals in the fields of robotics and AI, as industries increasingly rely on automation. By providing practical education and hands-on experience, the program equips students with the skills needed to enter high-demand positions such as robotics programmer and control systems technician. This initiative supports workforce development in technology sectors, potentially boosting local economies and addressing labor shortages. As automation continues to transform industries, educational programs like this are crucial in preparing the next generation of workers.
