Indonesian telecommunications company XLSmart has partnered with ZTE to launch the 'Ultra 5G+' service, significantly expanding 5G network coverage across the nation. This collaboration has resulted in the deployment of 5G infrastructure in 24 out of 33
cities, including major regions such as Surabaya and Medan. The initiative involved upgrading over 20,000 4G base stations and installing more than 7,000 new 5G base stations. XLSmart, formed from the merger of XL Axiata and Smartfren Telecom, aims to enhance network quality and resilience through improved spectrum utilization and 4G/5G coordination. The launch event in Surabaya showcased peak downlink speeds of 769 Mbps, with average speeds exceeding 500 Mbps, marking the largest 5G service launch in Indonesia.
