What's Happening?
The Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) recently held its annual Apprentice Automation Challenge, marking its eleventh year. This competition invites apprentice teams to design and build prototype devices that automate common products or processes.
This year, the event saw a record participation of 17 teams, showcasing a diverse range of products and high-quality engineering work. The challenge involves not only engineering and product development but also teamwork and presentation skills, as teams must present their work to a panel of industry judges. The winning team, Elevation Nation from Niftylift, retained their title for the second consecutive year. As part of their prize, they will be invited to The Manufacturer MX Awards in November and will have the opportunity to showcase their winning product at next year’s Smart Manufacturing Week.
