What's Happening?
Elise Raurell, a 16-year-old from South Florida, has initiated a program called Storm Smart to educate students on hurricane preparedness. Inspired by her experiences during Hurricane Irma, Raurell developed this peer-led initiative as part of her Girl
Scout Gold Award project. The program aims to teach hundreds of students in South Florida how to effectively prepare for and stay safe during hurricanes. By focusing on practical skills and safety measures, Storm Smart seeks to empower young people to take proactive steps in the face of natural disasters.
