Centara Hotels & Resorts, a leading hotel operator from Thailand, is actively engaging in sustainable practices at its multi-island destination, The Atollia, in the Maldives. This destination includes two resorts, Centara Mirage Lagoon Maldives and Centara Grand
Lagoon Maldives, which have been operational since late 2024 and early 2025, respectively. The resorts have integrated sustainability into their operations by utilizing solar energy, recycling waste, and conserving water. Solar panels installed on the properties have generated over 2.3 million kWh of energy, significantly reducing diesel consumption and CO2 emissions. Additionally, the resorts have recycled substantial amounts of glass and plastic, preventing nearly 22 tonnes of waste from entering landfills or oceans. Water conservation efforts include a recycling system that treats and reuses wastewater for irrigation.
