Participants rated AI-generated responses as more accurate and trustworthy, even when the advice was of low accuracy. This trust in AI has led to documented cases of individuals following harmful advice, such as a Moroccan man who required emergency care after following a chatbot's suggestion, and a 60-year-old man who was hospitalized after consuming a toxic substance recommended by an AI.
