Key qualifications include a High School Diploma or G.E.D., district-specific unit requirements or a pre-employment test, the ability to communicate effectively in Standard English, a negative TB test, and at least six months of experience working with groups of 10 or more students in an educational or recreational environment. Advanced K-8 math and English skills are required, with Spanish bi-literacy preferred.
Why It's Important?
This recruitment is crucial for supporting educational programs in California, particularly those focused on after-school and academic enrichment. Program Leaders play a vital role in nurturing young learners, providing a safe and engaging environment that complements traditional schooling. The emphasis on strong leadership, communication, and patience highlights the demanding yet rewarding nature of these roles. For students, these programs offer essential academic support and opportunities for physical activity, contributing to their holistic development. For the community, Think Together's efforts help address educational gaps and provide valuable resources for families. The requirement for criminal background checks and health screenings underscores the commitment to student safety and well-being, which is paramount in any educational setting.
What's Next?
Applicants who meet the qualifications will undergo a Live Scan criminal background check and must provide a negative TB test. Successful candidates will be responsible for leading student groups, supporting positive behavior choices, and communicating student needs to site program managers, teachers, and parents. They will also participate in staff development to enhance their skills. The ongoing need for such programs suggests a continuous demand for dedicated individuals to fill these roles, ensuring that students across California continue to receive the support they need to succeed academically and personally. The organization's commitment to an inclusive environment also means that diverse candidates, especially those who are bi-literate in Spanish, are highly valued.
