What's Happening?
The Atlanta Hawks, in partnership with Georgia Power, are continuing their HBCU Pathways Program for the fourth consecutive year. This initiative is designed to support students from Historically Black
Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) across Georgia by providing them with a 10-week paid internship. The program, which began in 2023, aims to develop the next generation of leaders in sports, entertainment, and business. Participants gain real-world professional experience and build networks that extend beyond the internship period. For the 2025 cohort, eight internship positions are available across various departments, including Brand Communications, Global Partnerships, Retail, Digital Marketing, and more. The application deadline for this opportunity is January 16, 2026.
Why It's Important?
The continuation of the HBCU Pathways Program underscores the commitment of both the Atlanta Hawks and Georgia Power to fostering diversity and inclusion within their industries. By providing HBCU students with practical experience and mentorship, the program helps equip them with the confidence and skills necessary for long-term career success. This initiative not only benefits the students but also strengthens local communities by cultivating a diverse workforce. Georgia Power's involvement is part of a broader $50 million multi-year investment in HBCUs nationwide, highlighting the importance of corporate support in educational and professional development for underrepresented groups.
What's Next?
As the application deadline approaches, interested students are encouraged to apply for the HBCU Pathways Program to take advantage of this unique opportunity. The program is expected to continue fostering relationships between students and industry professionals, potentially leading to full-time roles for participants. The ongoing collaboration between the Atlanta Hawks, Georgia Power, and HBCUs may inspire other organizations to develop similar initiatives, further promoting diversity and inclusion in various sectors.
