What's Happening?
Three members of the Cumbrian farming community have been honored for their significant contributions to agriculture. At a ceremony held at the House of Lords, the Council for Awards of the Royal Agricultural
Societies (CARAS) presented awards to 32 individuals, including Alistair Mackintosh, Ian Powley, and Andrew Newbold. Mackintosh, a beef and sheep farmer, received a fellowship for his leadership roles in various agricultural committees and his advocacy during Brexit. Powley was recognized for his extensive career in agriculture and his support for agricultural education and community initiatives. Newbold, an agricultural engineer, was acknowledged for his work in advancing agricultural engineering and safety.
