What's Happening?
Comba Telecom, a provider of wireless communication solutions, has partnered with SICOTEL Communications (SCOMM), a Moroccan telecom and ICT solutions integrator, to improve indoor wireless coverage across Morocco. The partnership was formalized through
a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed at the GITEX Africa 2026 event in Marrakech. This collaboration aims to develop and implement advanced in-building solutions (IBS) to meet the increasing demand for seamless indoor wireless coverage in various venues such as commercial, industrial, and public spaces. Comba will contribute its ComFlex MAX solution, known for its scalability and high-quality network coverage, while SCOMM will leverage its local market expertise and deployment capabilities. The partnership is aligned with Morocco's nationwide 5G rollout, targeting over 25% coverage by the end of 2026.
Why It's Important?
The partnership between Comba Telecom and SCOMM is significant as it supports Morocco's ambitious 5G rollout plan, which aims to achieve over 25% coverage by the end of 2026. Enhancing indoor wireless coverage is crucial for the country's digital infrastructure, particularly in high-density venues like shopping malls, office buildings, and airports. This collaboration not only addresses the growing demand for reliable indoor connectivity but also aligns with global sustainability goals by reducing power consumption through advanced technology. The initiative is expected to boost Morocco's position in the digital economy, attract investments, and improve the quality of telecommunications services for businesses and consumers.
What's Next?
The partnership will focus on identifying new project opportunities for in-building solutions across Morocco. Comba and SCOMM will deploy Comba's passive and active DAS solutions, including the ComFlex MAX, and engage in joint marketing initiatives to promote these integrated solutions to Moroccan operators and enterprises. As Morocco progresses with its 5G rollout, the collaboration is expected to play a pivotal role in delivering the necessary infrastructure to support this initiative. The focus will be on venues requiring high-density connectivity, ensuring that the country's digital infrastructure can accommodate future technological advancements.
