What's Happening?
The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) has taken over management authority for two Military GPS User Equipment (MGUE) programs from the U.S. Space Force. This transition, effective May 28, 2026, was disclosed by Space Systems Command. The move
consolidates the development, integration, and fielding of resilient positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) hardware under the Military Code Aviation Receivers Joint Program Office (MAR JPO) at Los Angeles Air Force Base, California. The Air Force now oversees the life-cycle management of MGUE Increment 1 and Increment 2, which includes aviation, maritime, and land-based M-Code receiver cards. This transition aims to streamline user equipment development and enhance the resilience of GPS systems against electronic warfare and signal jamming.
