ACLEDA Bank Plc. has officially launched the second phase of its cross-border payment system via QR code between Cambodia and Laos. This initiative aims to enhance digital payment systems and strengthen economic ties between the two countries. The launch ceremony
was attended by H.E Dr. Chea Serey, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, and H.E Bounkham Vorachit, Governor of the Bank of the Lao PDR. The system allows Lao citizens traveling to Cambodia to make payments by scanning KHQR codes using mobile banking applications from Lao financial institutions. This development follows the successful launch of the first phase, where Cambodia scanned Laos QR codes, promoting the use of Khmer Riel for settlement in the ASEAN region. The initiative is part of a broader effort to integrate digital payment systems within the ASEAN Economic Community.
