What's Happening?
The World Food Programme (WFP) is collaborating with the Government of Cameroon to enhance its National School Feeding Strategy. This initiative aims to institutionalize school feeding as a core social protection and human capital development tool. The strategy
focuses on promoting gender equality by ensuring equitable participation and benefits for both girls and boys. The WFP is supporting the government in developing operational tools to improve girls' enrollment, attendance, and retention in schools. The program also seeks to empower women economically by involving them in the food supply chain for schools. A School Feeding and Gender Officer will be appointed to lead research and analysis on the impact of school feeding on educational outcomes and gender equality.
