What's Happening?
Johnston Community College has successfully re-engaged 122 students who had paused or stopped their studies through a digital engagement strategy called 'GuidePosts.' This initiative, developed in partnership with Motimatic, uses behaviorally designed
digital prompts across social media platforms to encourage students to take small actions towards re-enrollment. The campaign targeted various student groups, including those who had previously applied but not enrolled, and those who had paused their education. The strategy resulted in significant engagement, with nearly one million impressions and 65,000 engagements, ultimately leading to 1,703 re-registrations and over 200 students applying or securing tuition plans.
Why It's Important?
This initiative addresses a critical challenge faced by community colleges: maintaining contact with students who have paused their education. By leveraging digital platforms and behavioral science, Johnston Community College has demonstrated an effective method for increasing student retention and re-enrollment. This approach not only benefits the institution by stabilizing enrollment numbers but also supports students in completing their education, which can have long-term positive impacts on their career prospects and economic stability. The success of this campaign could serve as a model for other educational institutions facing similar challenges.
