A recent study conducted by AutoPacific has revealed that all-wheel drive (AWD) is the most desired feature among new car buyers, surpassing interest in self-driving technology. The study surveyed over 18,000 participants planning to purchase or lease
a vehicle within the next three years. According to the findings, 63% of respondents expressed a preference for AWD or 4x4 capabilities in their next vehicle. Other popular features included blind-spot cameras and power driver's seats, both at 62%, and front and rear parking sensors at 61%. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto were also favored by 60% of participants. The study highlights a generational divide, with Baby Boomers showing the highest demand for AWD at 70%, while 60% of Gen Z respondents also expressed interest. Despite the growing popularity of automated driving assist systems, only 53% of those considering vehicles priced above $35,000 trust these systems to prevent accidents automatically.
