Africell, the U.S.-owned mobile network operator, has expanded its collaboration with NBA Africa to include all four of its African operating markets: Angola, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), The Gambia, and Sierra Leone. Initially launched in Angola in 2022,
the partnership has provided thousands of young Angolans with opportunities to engage in basketball through Jr. NBA tournaments, clinics, and court refurbishments. The expansion aims to introduce similar programs in the DRC, The Gambia, and Sierra Leone, with plans for a Jr. NBA league in Angola and subsequent clinics and 3-on-3 tournaments across these countries in 2026. This initiative is part of Africell's broader strategy to deliver social impact while growing its customer base.
