What's Happening?
The Samara Fund at the Vermont Community Foundation has allocated $117,100 in grants to 35 organizations across Vermont that support LGBTQ+ communities. These grants are aimed at fostering community-building initiatives, arts and cultural programming,
leadership development, and harm reduction services. In addition to these grants, the fund has awarded $16,500 in scholarships to 18 students from 14 Vermont high schools, with an additional $6,000 provided through the Douglas C. Howe and Frank E. Shivers Memorial Fund. The funding is sourced from annual fundraising and contributions from various funds, including the Samara Fund, the Douglas C. Howe and Frank E. Shivers Memorial Fund, and the Aretinolio Barbarossa Fund.
