The Colombian Navy is set to enhance its defense capabilities by integrating the C-Guard decoy launching system into its new PES frigates. This development follows a contract signed between Damen Naval and Danish defense technology company Terma A/S.
The C-Guard system, known for its advanced anti-air warfare (AAW) and anti-submarine warfare (ASW) modules, will be installed on the first of four frigates under the Colombian Navy's Strategic Surface Platform (PES) program. The vessel, designated PES 10714CO, is based on Damen's Sigma 10514 design and will be the first of its kind to be constructed in Colombia. The construction will be carried out in collaboration with the Science and Technology Corporation for the Development of the Naval, Maritime and River Industry (Cotecmar) in Cartagena de Indias, with delivery expected by 2030.
