What's Happening?
Chief Samuel Ogbuku, the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), has publicly refuted media reports suggesting his arrest was connected to Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye
Diri. The statement, issued by Dr. Willie Etim, S.A Media to the MD of NDDC, emphasized that the rumors were misleading and mischievous, and there is no rivalry within the APC family in Bayelsa State. Ogbuku clarified that any political opinions expressed in Bayelsa should be considered personal views and not representative of his stance. The controversy arose from comments attributed to a former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the APC, which Ogbuku condemned as false.
Why It's Important?
The denial from Chief Samuel Ogbuku is significant as it addresses potential political tensions within the APC in Bayelsa State, which could impact the party's unity and effectiveness in the region. By dispelling rumors of a rift with Governor Diri, Ogbuku aims to maintain stability and cohesion within the party, which is crucial for its political strategy and governance in the Niger Delta. This clarification also serves to protect the reputation of the NDDC and its leadership, ensuring that the focus remains on developmental goals rather than political distractions.
