She was married to Harry Vold, a Hall of Fame stock contractor, and together they founded the Harry Vold Rodeo Company, which became legendary in the rodeo circuit. Karen was also a recipient of the 2016 Donita Barnes Lifetime Achievement Award and was inducted into the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame in 1978.
