What's Happening?
Taiwan has commissioned the ROCS Dan Chiang, the lead vessel in the second production batch of the Tuo Chiang-class corvette program. The commissioning ceremony was presided over by President Lai Ching-te on July 24, 2026. The Dan Chiang is the eighth
vessel in the Tuo Chiang-class program, developed by Taiwan's National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology. This class of corvettes is designed as fast, heavily armed surface combatants optimized for operations in the confined and contested waters surrounding Taiwan. The vessel is equipped with indigenous weapons, including Hsiung Feng II and III anti-ship missiles, Sea Sword II surface-to-air missiles, and a 76 mm main gun. The remaining vessels in the class are expected to be delivered by the end of 2026.
