What's Happening?
Marlene Graham, a grandmother from Southwest Florida, has launched a nationwide educational initiative called OUR50. This project is inspired by her family's legacy of traveling to all 50 U.S. states, a journey first undertaken during America's Bicentennial
celebration in 1976. The initiative aims to educate children about the unique aspects of each state through monthly state-themed educational boxes, virtual learning experiences, and community partnerships. The project is designed to help children explore the history, culture, and natural wonders of each state, fostering a sense of national unity and understanding. The first educational box will focus on Florida, with plans to expand to other states.

The OUR50 project is significant as it seeks to instill a sense of national identity and appreciation for the diverse cultural and natural landscapes of the United States in young learners. By engaging children with interactive and educational content, the initiative promotes learning beyond traditional classroom settings. What's Next?
The OUR50 project is set to roll out its first educational box in the fall, focusing on Florida. As the project expands, it will include additional states, with plans for live learning opportunities through Zoom sessions featuring experts from each state. Marlene Graham is also working on developing small OUR50 Founders Parks across the country, starting with a pilot park in Florida. The project is currently building its list of Founding Families and seeking partnerships with various organizations to support its nationwide journey.
