What's Happening?
Super Sistem, an Indonesian operator, has announced a significant milestone in the development of its Barat Timur Indonesia (BTI) subsea cable system. The project has received corridor approval, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and addressing technical and environmental considerations within Indonesian waters. This approval allows the project to proceed to the next phase, which involves a comprehensive marine survey conducted by APTelecom to validate and refine the subsea route. The BTI system, spanning over 4,700 km, will connect Batam, Jakarta, and Manado through seven landing stations across the archipelago. Super Sistem plans to link BTI to its Super Sistem Batam Singapore (SSBS) cable system, connecting Batam to Singapore. Both systems are expected to be operational by the fourth quarter of 2026.
