What's Happening?
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit & Expo 2026 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The four-day event, from November 2 to 5, aims to unite global policymakers, investors, financial institutions, and industry
leaders to promote investment, innovation, and international partnerships in the renewable energy sector. The theme of the summit is 'Invest. Innovate. Inspire.' According to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), the summit will attract participants from over 130 countries, including more than 40 ministers. It will serve as a global platform for clean energy investment, industry engagement, and technology partnerships. Nine countries and regional groupings, including Australia, Denmark, the European Union, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and the United Kingdom, will participate as Country Partners. Additionally, thirteen Indian states and Union Territories will showcase their renewable energy potential.
Why It's Important?
This summit is a significant step towards fostering international cooperation and accelerating the deployment of clean energy solutions. For the U.S., engagement in such a large-scale international forum is crucial for several reasons. It provides an opportunity to observe and potentially influence global trends in renewable energy, identify new markets for U.S. clean energy technologies, and forge strategic partnerships. The focus on investment, industry, and technology partnerships aligns with U.S. goals for energy independence and climate action. The discussions on solar energy and green hydrogen technologies, in particular, could inform U.S. policy and investment strategies, ensuring that U.S. industries remain competitive and at the forefront of global energy innovation. The event also highlights the growing importance of emerging economies in the global clean energy transition.
What's Next?
The summit will feature plenary sessions, ministerial discussions, CEO roundtables, and country and state sessions. It will also facilitate business-to-business, business-to-government, and government-to-government engagements to promote investments, partnerships, and project development. The accompanying Expo will showcase over 400 exhibitors presenting advanced technologies, Indian manufacturing capabilities, and clean energy solutions across various sectors, including solar, wind, green hydrogen, and energy storage. The event is being organized alongside the 9th Session of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) Assembly and the 4th International Conference on Green Hydrogen (ICGH), bringing together three major clean energy platforms to strengthen international cooperation and accelerate the deployment of clean energy solutions.
