What's Happening?
The Africa-Europe Innovation Platform (AEIP) has launched the Scholars Programme 2026-2027, aimed at fostering research collaboration between Africa and Europe. This initiative invites young researchers from both continents to engage in interdisciplinary
research, innovation, and science communication. The program seeks to address global challenges by transforming academic research into practical solutions. Successful applicants will collaborate with peers from another continent and have the opportunity to present their work at the AEIP Stakeholder Meeting in Europe in June 2027. Applications are open until August 31, 2026.
Why It's Important?
The AEIP Scholars Programme is crucial for strengthening scientific cooperation between Africa and Europe. By encouraging interdisciplinary partnerships, the program aims to generate innovative solutions to shared challenges, such as climate change and sustainable development. This collaboration not only enhances academic partnerships but also contributes to the global knowledge economy. The program's focus on practical research outputs ensures that academic findings are translated into real-world applications, benefiting communities and institutions across both continents.
What's Next?
As the application deadline approaches, the program is expected to attract a diverse group of scholars eager to contribute to international research efforts. The selected participants will begin their collaborative research in September 2026, with the goal of producing impactful solutions by March 2027. The outcomes of this program could influence future research agendas and policy decisions, promoting further collaboration between Africa and Europe. Additionally, the success of this initiative may inspire similar programs in other regions, fostering global scientific cooperation.
