What's Happening?
Maple Creek Energy LLC has secured an agreement to purchase a GE Vernova 7HA.03 gas turbine for the first phase of its Maple Creek natural gas-fired power project in Sullivan County, Indiana. The project, developed by Advanced Power and BDC Power Holdings,
is set to become a two-phase, gas-fueled electric-generation facility with over 1.2 GW of capacity. The facility aims to utilize lower-carbon natural gas and recovered steam in a combined-cycle configuration to deliver sustainable energy to the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) grid. The project is expected to enter commercial operation by 2029, with Bechtel Infrastructure & Power Corp. serving as the engineering, procurement, and construction contractor.
