The programs also showed high retention rates, with 94.8% of players planning to stay at their institutions until graduation. Additionally, esports programs are attracting students to STEM fields, with a notable concentration of players majoring in computer science and engineering. The study also revealed diversity challenges, particularly gender disparities, as the majority of varsity players and program directors are male.
