Jeffrey Cheah, founder of Sunway Group, has been named a Forbes Asia Heroes of Philanthropy honoree for the fifth time. Cheah's recognition is due to his significant contributions to education and nation-building through the Jeffrey Cheah Foundation.
Recently, he pledged RM500 million to establish a major education endowment at Sunway University, modeled after prestigious institutions like Harvard and Cambridge. The foundation has awarded over RM967 million in scholarships and grants, supporting numerous students, and is on track to surpass RM1 billion by 2026. Cheah's philanthropic efforts also include contributions to public schools and sustainability initiatives.
