What's Happening?
Two high-school interns from HPPR have submitted podcasts to NPR's annual Student Podcast Challenge. Skylar Childress focused on the theme of art and creativity, interviewing artists she admired, including
Takaya Imamura, a renowned Japanese video game designer. BonneJordan Hernandez explored the mental health of teenagers, using anonymous questionnaires to gather insights and interviews from peers. Both projects reflect the interns' dedication and creativity, supported by educators at AmTech Career Academy.
Why It's Important?
The participation of HPPR interns in NPR's Student Podcast Challenge highlights the importance of fostering creativity and critical thinking among young people. By engaging with topics such as art and mental health, these students are not only developing valuable skills but also contributing to broader conversations on these subjects. Their work underscores the role of educational institutions in encouraging students to tackle complex issues and express themselves through media, potentially influencing future careers in journalism, art, and mental health advocacy.
