IntraBio has announced new research findings published in PLOS ONE, highlighting the bidirectional effect of levacetylleucine on lysosomal function. Conducted by researchers at the University of Oxford, the study reveals that levacetylleucine, the active
ingredient in AQNEURSA, directly influences Transcription Factor EB (TFEB), a key regulator of lysosomal biogenesis and autophagy. The research identifies a unique biphasic action where levacetylleucine normalizes TFEB activity, activating it in deficient models and downregulating it when overstimulated, thus maintaining cellular homeostasis. This stereospecific effect is rapid, occurring within an hour, and is exclusive to the L-enantiomer of levacetylleucine.
