What's Happening?
Arcius Energy has made a final investment decision (FID) to develop the Harmattan gas field in Egypt's El Burg offshore concession, committing up to $500 million to the project. This marks one of the company's first projects in Egypt following its acquisition
of the concession earlier this year. The development aims to increase natural gas supply to the domestic market and will be executed in collaboration with the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) and local partners. Engineering, procurement, construction, and installation work have been awarded to ENPPI, with Petroleum Marine Services and Petrojet participating as subcontractors.
Why It's Important?
The investment in the Harmattan gas field underscores Arcius Energy's confidence in Egypt's energy sector and its commitment to enhancing natural gas supply and energy security in the region. This project is significant for Egypt as it seeks to strengthen its position as a regional energy hub in the Eastern Mediterranean. The collaboration with EGAS and local partners reflects a strategic approach to leveraging local expertise and resources, which could have positive economic impacts on the region.
