What's Happening?
LONGi, a global leader in solar technology, has delivered its high-efficiency Hi-MO 9 modules to the FITULA solar PV plant in Zambia. This initiative marks a significant shift for a major Chinese copper industry player from fossil fuel dependency to clean solar energy. The project, located in Chingola, Copperbelt Province, is designed with an AC capacity of 10 MWp and a DC capacity of approximately 12 MWp, covering an area of 12.41 hectares. LONGi's solution includes 640Wp high-efficiency half-cut BC bifacial monocrystalline silicon solar modules, which boast a conversion efficiency of 23.7%. These modules are designed to maximize energy output in Zambia's high-irradiation conditions and ensure long-term reliability in harsh environments. The project aims to reduce reliance on diesel generators, cutting energy costs and carbon emissions.
