What's Happening?
Northwood Technical College is set to open a new Workforce Accelerator in Hayward, Wisconsin, this summer. This new facility will replace the existing Hayward Outreach Center and is part of Northwood Tech's initiative to provide rural communities with
greater access to educational opportunities. The Workforce Accelerator will be located within the Trailview Cottages housing project and will offer programs such as GED/HSED and Adult Education, along with access to the college's mobile training programs. The facility will also serve as a venue for meetings and connecting students with college support services. The current location on Windrose Lane will close on June 1, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new site is planned for late summer.
Why It's Important?
The opening of the Workforce Accelerator in Hayward is significant as it enhances educational accessibility for residents in rural areas of Northwest Wisconsin. By providing local access to educational programs, Northwood Tech aims to help community members achieve their educational goals without the need to travel long distances. This initiative is particularly important in addressing educational disparities in rural communities, where access to such resources can be limited. The new facility is expected to support the educational and career needs of over 14,000 residents annually, contributing to workforce development and economic growth in the region.
What's Next?
Following the closure of the current Hayward Outreach Center on June 1, Northwood Tech will focus on finalizing preparations for the new Workforce Accelerator. The ribbon-cutting ceremony planned for late summer will mark the official opening of the facility. As the new site becomes operational, Northwood Tech will likely engage with local community members to promote the available educational programs and support services. The college may also explore partnerships with local businesses and organizations to further enhance the impact of the Workforce Accelerator on the community.
