What's Happening?
The 7×24 Exchange DC Chapter, representing the world's largest data center hub in Northern Virginia, announced a reinvestment of $222,600 into the local community in 2025. This investment was directed towards charitable giving, scholarships, workforce
development, and veteran and wellness support. The initiative aims to close opportunity gaps for students, support families facing basic needs challenges, and create pathways into high-paying careers in data centers, construction, and engineering. The Chapter awarded $50,000 in college scholarships to students pursuing degrees in engineering and related fields, and an additional $28,000 to graduating students from Loudoun County Public Schools. The Chapter also launched the Brian Brobst Legacy Internship, a program offering hands-on experience in AI, cloud, and data center operations.
Why It's Important?
This reinvestment by the 7×24 Exchange DC Chapter highlights the critical role of the data center industry in supporting local communities and developing a skilled workforce. By providing scholarships and creating career pathways, the initiative addresses the growing demand for skilled professionals in mission-critical industries. This effort not only benefits students and families but also strengthens the local economy by ensuring a steady supply of qualified workers. The focus on community support and workforce development reflects a broader trend of industries investing in their local communities to foster sustainable growth and development.
What's Next?
The Chapter is actively recruiting partner businesses and college students for the Brian Brobst Legacy Internship, which will offer students immersive experiences in the data center industry. Applications for the inaugural summer cohort will open in the spring, encouraging students pursuing engineering, IT, and technical degrees to apply. The Chapter's continued focus on education and workforce development is expected to further enhance the region's reputation as a hub for mission-critical industries, ensuring that as the industry grows, the community grows with it.
