The UK Ministry of Defence has announced plans to increase production of Octopus interceptor unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to supply Ukraine with thousands each month. These UAVs, developed by Ukrainian engineers, will be manufactured by the UK defense
industry. The Octopus UAVs are designed to counter Shahed-style drones using real-time battlefield data. The production is part of the Lyra programme, a defense technology sharing agreement between the UK and Ukraine, marking a shift from donation to joint procurement. The design of the UAVs will be updated every six weeks to adapt to evolving Russian tactics.
