What's Happening?
Centrica has announced the development of a £35 million state-of-the-art training academy and energy transition research laboratory in Lutterworth, Leicestershire, set to open in May 2026. This facility,
known as the Centrica Energy Park, aims to train thousands of engineers annually in skills essential for the energy transition, such as heat pumps, EV chargers, solar panels, and battery storage. The academy will feature a full-size 'eco house' to demonstrate the integration of these skills in creating sustainable homes. Additionally, it will house several research labs, including the Net Zero Lab, Diagnostic & Innovation Lab, Smart Testing Lab, Centrica Business Solutions Controls Lab, and Hive Lab, each focusing on different aspects of energy and heating technologies.
