Leicestershire Police have implemented a new initiative using virtual reality (VR) to educate drivers on the importance of safe driving near horse riders. The operation, known as Operation Snaffle, involved rural police officers, the fire service's road safety unit, and equestrian volunteers. They targeted drivers who were not giving enough space to horse riders on the roads. Eleven motorists were identified as driving below standard and were given the opportunity to experience the perspective of horse riders through VR headsets. This educational approach aims to increase awareness and improve road safety for both drivers and horse riders.
