What's Happening?
Essex & Suffolk Water has announced plans to construct two new reservoirs and a water recycling plant in Suffolk to address the county's long-term water security needs. The initiative, known as the Suffolk Water Recycling, Transfer and Storage Project,
aims to ensure reliable water supplies for future generations. Suffolk has been identified as a Seriously Water Stressed Area by the Environment Agency, highlighting the urgency of the project. The proposed water recycling plant near Lowestoft would produce 11 million liters of purified water, while the reservoirs, partially buried, would be located near Sibton and Eye airfield. The project is part of a broader £1.5 billion investment in water infrastructure across the East of England.

With Suffolk experiencing its second driest March-May period since 1921, the need for sustainable water management solutions is pressing.
