What's Happening?
Nepal has initiated a project aimed at strengthening its agriculture and food systems, with financial backing from the Chinese government. The project was inaugurated in Kathmandu and is set to enhance agricultural cooperation between Nepal and China.
It will be managed through the 'Global Development and South-South Cooperation Fund' under the Chinese agency for international development cooperation. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Government of Nepal will coordinate the project's implementation. Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Chang Mao Ming, emphasized the importance of agriculture for Nepal's socio-economic development, food security, and poverty alleviation. The project aims to boost the capacity of Nepali farmers and increase the resilience of the agricultural sector through technology transfer, training, and knowledge exchange.
