What's Happening?
Airbus Defence and Space, along with Thales Alenia Space, has been contracted to build a replacement military communications satellite for Spain, named SpainSat NG 3. This satellite will replace the malfunctioned SpainSat NG 2, which was damaged by a space
particle strike. The new satellite will feature technological enhancements, including greater operational agility, expanded bandwidth, and superior protection against jamming and electronic threats. The satellite is expected to be ready for launch in the third quarter of 2030 and will provide services over the Americas, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
