Fitzgerald and Board Chair Alastair Bratton attended the Agri-business Reception hosted by Alberta Agriculture and Irrigation Minister Tara Sawyer. They met with federal Agriculture and Agri-Food Minister Heath MacDonald to express gratitude for the ASF zoning arrangement, which allows pork exports to Japan from ASF-free zones even if the disease is detected elsewhere in Canada. Japan is a significant market for Canadian pork, with exports valued at $1.8 billion in 2025. The agreement is part of Canada's ASF zoning arrangements with eight markets, representing 69% of Canada's pork export value.
