Rancho Viejo Middle School in the Hemet Unified School District has been honored with the Civic Learning Award of Distinction, a statewide recognition for outstanding achievement in civic education. This award, presented on Constitution Day, September
17th, commemorates the signing of the U.S. Constitution. Rancho Viejo was one of only two schools in Riverside County to receive recognition and the sole middle school in California to earn the Distinction level. Justice Carol Codrington and Judge Jackson presented the award, with a representative from Senator Rosilicie Ochoa Bogh's office also in attendance. Students delivered presentations on improving the country's state and civic engagement, and Associated Student Body (ASB) students were officially sworn into their positions by Judge Jackson.
