The Jackson Chance Foundation, established by Carrie and Terry Meghie in memory of their son Jackson, is expanding its program to cover parking costs for families with babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the University of Chicago's Comer
Children's Hospital. This initiative aims to alleviate the financial burden of parking, which can be a significant out-of-pocket expense for families with long-term NICU stays. The foundation previously launched similar programs at Lurie Children's Hospital, Rush University Children's Hospital, and Northwestern Medicine Prentice Women's Hospital. At Comer Children's Hospital, the program will support families utilizing 71 NICU beds. Carrie Meghie highlighted that parking was their largest unexpected expense during their son's 10-month NICU stay, and the foundation's mission is to ensure other babies have constant parental presence without this financial barrier.
